CAHS Service Abroad

The week that I had spent in Costa Rica with the College of Allied Health Social Work Study Abroad course had been one of the most impactful experiences of my life. I was given the chance to learn more about the history of Costa Rica, but also Nicaragua as well. This allowed me to learn more about what events had led up to what goes on in Costa Rica today. Being there had shifted my perspective about a lot of things on life. I felt that this experience was one of my most impactful since I learned a lot about myself and about the world around me. This experience was truly the embodiment of what I believe a global citizen scholar is. I used the opportunities and resources available to me to have a big change on a group of people. I had the chance to learn about forcibly displaced and stateless individuals, as well as the culture of the country. I will forever cherish this experience and hope that I have the opportunity to experience many more like it.
