Hello!

My name is Melena and I am currently a second-year junior majoring in Health Sciences on the pre-medicine track. I also have a minor in chemistry. After graduation I hope to attend M.D./PhD school to further my education and allow me to learn more about subjects I am passionate about and achieve my goal of becoming a physician. While in Medical school I hope to participate in research, specifically cancer research. In addition to my academic interests, I also love playing volleyball, dogs, reading, running, playing volleyball, watching movies and t.v. shows. My favorite book is Looking for Alaska, but I also thoroughly enjoy classics like Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, and The Beautiful and Damned. Another interest of mine is traveling. I have grown up traveling all over the world and hope to continue that in my future. Some of my favorite places I have visited are Eritrea, Las Angeles, and Dubai.

I am ecstatic to have been given this opportunity to join the University Honors Program. I am most excited to be able to participate in the unique honors seminars and experiences. I hope to participate in research experiences to further my academic experiences and prepare me for graduate school. Most of all, I want to utilize this opportunity to join programs and become more involved on campus. Another goal I have for myself in University Honors is to be active in working with and learning from students in other disciplines.
