Gen-1

Being involved in the Gen 1 program for first generation students at UC was an experience that helped me and provided me with many opportunities on campus. I was made aware of many resources that I had been unaware of prior to joining the program and had knowledgable advisors who were able to help me with mostly all areas of college. I got to meet other first generation students and learn more about them, and most importantly felt welcome and as though I could relate to other students around me. The program has pillars which focus in areas of live, learn, give, and earn. While in this first year experience I was able to have many diverse experiences that coincided with each pillar. Overall, this program has been extremely helpful in adjusting to college and making the most of my resources on campus. I have made connections and friends, while also having a place to turn to when in need.
