IUSCCC Internship
Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center Internship
Over the summer of 2024 I participated in a internship that focused on working in a lab that focused on synthesizing a nanotechnology to help deliver chemotherapy drugs. This internship was slightly over two months and taught me so much from lab techniques to the aspects involved in working in a research lab. I am very grateful to have been very hands on in the lab and was able to learn how to synthesize DNA and RNA, purify nucleic acids, and plating and treatment of cells. This experienced showed me the importance of trying new things and expanding my knowledge. I was able to meet so many great people who were kind enough to guide me throughout the summer and teach me so much about cancer and chemotherapy. I got to see the importance of this kind of research and the positive impact it can have in the future once complete. I feel that this experience has showed me what it means to be a global citizen scholar. I was able to use an opportunity and apply that towards making an impact on the world around me, no matter how small.
This is the template for our project. It shows a three way junction molecule turn into a nanoparticle. I made this from start to finish.
