Volleyball
During the Fall 2023 semester I decided to try out for the University of Cincinnati Women's Club Volleyball team. I find this experience a very meaningful one for me because it was a big part of me gaining confidence after not making it the year prior, and has allowed me to make life long friends and learn so many valuable skills. I have reminisced going to tournaments all day and playing a sport that me and all of my teammates love. Being given the opportunity to play volleyball, attend fun practices, and even more enjoyable tournaments has been something I am most grateful for in college. Making the team has allowed me to gain confidence in my abilities as well as go back to a sport I am passionate about. I have learned how to manage my time better, how to be a better team member, and have enjoyed every minute there. One of the most valuable things that I have taken from being a part of a club sport is time management. This had been something I struggled with previously and having practices, tournaments, and events has pushed me to learn how to better manage my time. This translates into my life outside of volleyball by allowing me to be more efficient in school, work, and other extracurriculars. This has taught me to be more disciplined and that is something I hope to continue to practice as I work to become a physician. Being part of a team has been another benefit of playing a sport. I have made deep connections and can work more effectively in groups. This skill has improved my team work abilities and allows me to be a better peer not only in volleyball, but in all of my group settings like lab courses and work. Team work is something required in all settings forever, especially as a Physician, and I hope to continue to improve in this area. These lessons I hope to translate into my everyday life while also improve on as time continues.se lessons I hope to translate into my everyday life while also improve on as time continues. This image below shows the joy we all felt as a team after playing in a tournament, to me it demonstrates our teamwork and love for the sport.
